ROADS AND PATHES IN THE ANIMALS’ VITAL ACTIVITY OF THE BIOSPHERE RESERVE “ASKANIA NOVA”

An analysis of roads’ network in the Bio-sphere Reserve shows that they were laid spontaneously, mainly to meet the needs of a man with no account taken of nature conservation activities. Some species of animals widely use communi-cations created by the man in the conditions of intensive anthropogenic environment. These com-munications compensate, and in a number of cases, expand the exploitation by them of a space of the biosphere reserve used by human activities. It is proposed in the future to review a strategy for the use of the existing main road, which runs through the reserve, to carry out the planning of its new location that reduces the impact of vehicles on a biota of the reserve’s core area, including the further development of adaptive reactions caused by the presence of an easy prey, grain feed, gas-troliths on the roadbed and roadside strip and reduce the possibility of its death.
